What Do You Think of Homosexuals?
Before I begin this post, let me make one thing clear: I am a female, and I am not gay. I am as straight as a straight pin (or something really straight
). I love guys, and I have loved them for as long as I can remember. However, not everyone lives the same lifestyle as me. When it comes to relationships, there are women who are more comfortable with having other female partners, and there are men who are more comfortable with having male partners. And, there are also the multi-taskers who enjoy relationships with both the male and female sex!
Although many people are beginning to embrace and accept homosexuals as NORMAL people, there are still a few (or a lot) of people who despise homosexuals with a passion. They think that being gay is wrong, immoral, disgusting; and many gays, especially in the Caribbean, face death threats, and are victims to verbal and physical abuse. I have noticed, however, that the masses are more lenient on lesbians, but they seek to terrorize the gay men out there.
Now, I am not here to argue if homosexuality is immoral, because this has been discussed over a million times, and it will continue to be an issue until the end of the earth. I, personally, have no problem with gays, lesbians, or bisexuals. I look at them as normal individuals, and believe it or not, they are a joy to be around. They are funny, smart, and apart from the fact that they like to sleep with someone of their same sex, they are just like you and me.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and that’s why I’m sharing mine. So, what do you think of gay people? Take my poll, and leave your comments to let me know!!

This is a difficult topic for me. As a Christian, I find myself hearing many different points of view. I tend to believe that although I may not agree with their lifestyle, homosexuals are human beings who deserve the same rights and respect that I do. This seems to be a no brainer to me, but many people just don’t feel this way. I just pray that in time, people will get better at respecting others, despite what their beliefs may be.
hmmm….we really seem to be thinkin along the same lines you know. first off, personally I do not give a rats ass what a person wants to do behind closed doors. As long as thats where they keep it. Just as how i dont impose my sexuality on you if I know you dont support it…keep urs just as quiet.
being from jamaica, which has to be the most homophobic place on earth, i dont have a real problem with homosexuals (i have quite a few Lesbian and BI friends….and one associate who everyone was convinced was gay).
girl i’ve been meaning to do a post on homosexuality for lots of reasons…so imma do dat soon…cuz dats 2 much typin 4 dat comment area here..but great post!!

Well you know where I stand, being a gay man myself.
I don’t agree with their lifestyle, but they certainly don’t deserve death threats like many of them get here in the Caribbean. They are human beings after all. According to your poll, most people agree.

Very interesting topic. Personally, I think everyone is entitled to live their lives the way that is best for them as long as they are not hurting others. I’ve grown up in a Christian, West Indian home and I know that homosexuality it a “hot” button topic in that circle. However, I am of the opinion that Christians do not have all the “right” answers nor does the Caribbean culture. Thanks for putting up this question and letting everyone answer truthfully.
Well as Preston said, Im also a gay male so you know how I feel. But honestly, I dont go throwing my sexuality up in peoples faces. Like many of you are saying, gay people are humans too. I could bet at least someone you know who says they are “straight” really is bi-curious our gay behind doors. So what if someone has feelings for the same sex, if liking the same sex is something you are attracted to and if it makes you happy, then so be it. Some people seem to be inconsiderate jerks when it comes to the view of homosexuals, but I do thank all who take others peoples feelings into consideration.
We are all living, loving, breathing, suffering human beings. Too bad fear prevents so many people from completely accepting and embracing anyone or anything different from themselves. Fat people, foreign people, gay people, artistic people, just to name a few, are all objects of prejudice in one form or another. There’s a fresh sense of spirit and brotherhood across the globe right now as the U.S. prepares for a change in administration. I hope the current outpouring of love and inspiration reaches to include all people, races, religion, and lifestyles and lasts beyond the buzz of patriotism and brotherhood sparked by the inauguration.

Well said, guys. I’m glad that we share similar opinions. I was half-expecting someone to totally disagree with me, but I guess those with opposing opinions didn’t read this blog entry lol.
