Such an Embarrassment
It’s very hard for me to criticize my my lovely country of Saint Lucia, but I must admit that it has to be done once in a while. Exactly one week ago, I was stuck in Barbados, but that didn’t prevent me from showing my disgust. I was actually disgusted by the FILTH which was called Saint Lucia Carnival 2009. This “filth”, which is a month-long event, culminated last Monday and Tuesday with two days of parading on the city streets.
I have no problem with the Calypso or Soca events which lead up to the parade. My problem lies mainly with the street dancing. Now, don’t get me wrong – I am all for having a good time and parading on the streets. Hell, there was a period when I would be part of a carnival band each year, for several years. However, it has continued to worsen over the years, with this year being the most horrible and unbearable to date.
What was once fun to watch and take part in, has now become quite embarrassing to watch. All you see is men and women so drunk that they only have a vague idea of their surroundings; the nasty dancing which resembles sexual acts; women clad in their very revealing costumes – behaving stupidly, especially when they realize that they are being filmed by a camera.
The men are disgusting as well, but as usual, I am here to attack the women. It seems that the women of Saint Lucia have lost all sense of direction, and all pride and respect for themselves and each other. As if behaving like wild animals was not shameful enough, some of these women looked HORRIBLE in their carnival costumes. Yes, I will admit that some of them looked nice in their costumes, but the majority of those wearing a two-piece costume looked like they needed to get their hands on the best weight loss supplement out there.
I don’t know what mirror they looked into before they left home on Carnival Monday, but someone should tell them that its not sexy to be wearing a panty and bra on the streets, when you are severely overweight with a hanging stomach. If you MUST take part in carnival, then wear the 1-piece costumes, and act like a damn LADY and not a wild animal. Seriously – Its time for us to get our act together. I am so pissed that I will have to continue this rant later on …

I don’t know when debasing yourself became ‘we culture’ wining and jumping up -yeah, but the nastiness that passes for that now – you wronging wild animals there child! Wild animals don’t behave so bad!

I am not even going to start on this years carnival especially the WOMEN!! EWWWW Cellulite which is not bad …until you display it so disgustingly, disgusting bellies …how can I describe this ….Oh I know DISGUSTING!!!!

Wow, that is such a shame. It is the responsibility of the people who run the event and the government to clean it up so it can be the fun and family event it once was.
