Barack Obama | The New President
I am elated that Barack Obama was elected as the new President of the USA. Although I’m not a US citizen, I have been following the elections very closely, and I did lots of research on the candidates. Both of them have their faults, but in my opinion, Barack Obama is the most suitable candidate. Apparently, the majority of the US citizens shared my opinion. I’m not only saying this because I am black. I think that he is sincere, and he really does have the best interests of the country at heart. Its amazing to see how so many people came together and supported this man: black, white, asian, hispanic, middle eastern, etc.
So many people are celebrating this victory, including Saint Lucians. I heard that some people were having motorcades, and my family even had a BBQ earlier this evening to celebrate Obama’s victory (even though the voting wasn’t over yet). I’ve noticed that many people in the Caribbean were rooting for him, even though they were not able to vote
My friend Tracy attends the Grambling State University, and she worked really hard to convince people to get out and vote. As I’m writing this, she’s out with her friends celebrating the victory as well. I know for a fact that Omar, Kristin, Preston and Kera are happy too!!
I watched McCain’s speech tonight, and I felt a bit sorry for him, and for Palin as well. Palin actually cried, and McCain was close to tears – I would be too, if I had lost by such a landslide. I honestly think that McCain could have had a better chance if he had not chosen Palin to be his running mate. Obama’s speech was so touching, and so many people in the crowd were moved to tears, including Oprah Winfrey, and Jesse Jackson. I’m very happy that Obama was elected, and I just hope that he does his job, and does not disappoint us all. Afterall, whatever happens in the USA affects us in the Caribbean (and the rest of the world) as well.
Boy, I am just so happy that I got to see history being made today. Now … enough of my rambling. I think I’m beginning to inherit my father’s political genes (he was the Minister of Finance in the 70′s). Off to bed …

Gosh! am so happy but so tired finally my days of house to house are over and my main aim was achieved!Lastnite some of my friends were just chanting my name when Obama thnk the total strangers who were working in his favor and god knows his banner in my dorm window wasn’t just there for nothing.
I admire that man…and i wish him all the best
also i have to thnk those people who voted for Senator Marie Landrieu…thnks a million
Woo Hoo! Let’s hear it for Obama!

hmmm….first things first….u did research without being prompted? =O
but on to serious matters, I agree that both candidates had their faults and Mr. Obama had a more sincere and has the conutry’s best interest at heart. But I do not blame McCain’s loss on Palin as much as I put it on the party itself, I have always been a staunch opponent of McCain and his policies especially his ludicrous closed border type policies.
that said,…Barack to the WRRRLLLL!!!!
